N. Jefferson Traffic Will Shift to West Next Tuesday

With one phase of the renovation project on North Jefferson almost completed, MoDOT is about to shift traffic to the other side of the street as the project continues.
The Missouri Department of Transportation said both lanes of  Jefferson St. (Highway 14/Bus. Rte 5) will be shifted to the west from the square to NW 12th Ave.
Willie Johnson, with MoDOT, said stripers are scheduled to be in Ava next Tuesday to remove the existing center stripe and lay down a new stripe, shifting traffic to the west.
The storm drain project began at NW 12th Ave. and progressed to the square. Now, the work will continue at the square and work back toward NW 12th Ave., according to the original project plan.
New handicapped-accessible sidewalks are also being installed as part of this project.
Pavement markings will be removed and restriped to allow contractor crews to work on the east side of the road. The contract completion date is Sept. 30.
Width restrictions will remain in place, as lanes will be restricted in both directions with a 10-foot width restriction.
Periodic lane closures will occur and the work zone will be marked with signs. Flaggers will be utilized to maintain two-way, head to head traffic. Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in the area.
When the work is completed, there will be no parking along the street on the entire stretch of North Jefferson.
