Local Treatment Court Celebrates Success

AVA – The 44th Judicial Circuit Treatment Court Program, consisting of programs in Douglas, Ozark, and Wright counties, celebrated the 15th anniversary of its Adult Treatment Court Programs.
The Missouri Association of Drug Court Professionals (MADCP) recognized the court for its success Tuesday, March 24, at the association’s annual conference at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach.
“We are very proud of the impact these programs have on our communities,” MADCP President Julie Seymore said.
“By treating our chronically addicted offenders, we reduce drug abuse, ensure accountability and protect public safety.”
Like more than 3,000 operational treatment court programs in the United States, the 44th Circuit Treatment Court Program is a judicially supervised court docket that reduces correctional costs.
Treatment court participants must meet their obligation to themselves, their families and society. To ensure accountability, they regularly and randomly are tested for drug use, required to appear frequently in court for the judge to review their progress, rewarded for doing well and sanctioned for not living up to their obligations.
