Jerry Eldon Engle

Jerry Eldon Engle, 70 years, passed away on April 8, 2015, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo., with family and friends by his side.
Jerry was born Sept. 12, 1944 in Douglas County, Mo., to James Eldon and Ruth Lee (Warren) Engle. Jerry attended Ava High School.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of Douglas County.
He was retired mechanic and welder. Jerry was a Vietnam Navy veteran and had received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Veteran’s of  Foreign Wars (VFW) and of the Eagles Lodge of Ava. Jerry enjoyed his work and loved visiting with his family and friends under his willow tree!
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James Eldon and Ruth, sisters and brothers.
He is survived by four children, Theresa Bridgmon and husband, Brian, Lisa Adkins, Lyle Engle all of Ava, Mo., and Sara and husband, Woody  Carman, Montana; six grandsons; two great-grandsons; one brother, James Lyle Rowe, Ava, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Jerry were Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at  2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with full military honors by VFW and Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Officiating were Pastor Andy Teal and Pastor Dennis Shumate.  Celebration of  life immediately following service at The Eagles Lodge #3748.  Memorials may be made to Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
