Ava Art Guild Does Field Trip Workshop

It was the first time for the Ava Art Guild to have a field trip for their monthly workshop.  On April 11 the attendees of the Guild’s workshop had a sack lunch picnic and quick meeting at the gallery before car pooling to the blacksmith shop of Jim Davis.  Jim has been a member of the Guild for some time and he wanted to share his art form with other artists. But due to the nature of his art it was much easier for the workshop to go to his location.
Jim’s blacksmith shop is decorated with old tools and projects in process. Jim demonstrated different techniques in twisting metal and making leaves. It was very interesting and informative,  the guild wants to thank Jim and his wife for their hospitality in sharing his art and shop with us.
In  May the workshop will be back at the gallery at 303 E. Washington Ave., across from the Douglas County Herald. On May 9 the workshop will be acid etching on glass led by Elizabeth Brown.  It should be a great time of learning something new.
The workshops are free and open to the public. All supplies are provided by the Guild. Social time is at 1 p.m., business meeting at 1:30 and workshop at 2 p.m.
