Ava Art Guild Opens For 2015 Season

It looks like spring is finally in the air; we will keep our fingers and toes crossed. But either way the Ava Art Guild is opening for 2015, and we are starting off with some incredible events.  March 12 through 21 is the Katie West exhibit and sale. She is a very talented cowboy and celebrity artist.  She has painted and been friends with some of the most famous western actors in the country.  You can see her work at the gallery 303 E Washington Ave., (across from the Douglas  County Herald office) until the 21st. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free to browse her beautiful art. You can find out more about Katie at KatieWestArt.com.
The Art Guild art workshops are  free and open to the public from March through November so we are excited to start the art! Rita Fancher will be leading an acrylic painting with a spring theme on Saturday March 14.  She is a great teacher and you will enjoy this workshop. All supplies are provided by the guild.  Social time starts at 1 p.m., business meeting at 1:30 and workshop at 2 p.m.  See you there! Workshops are held at the gallery.
The last weekend of March 27 and 28 will be the fourth Ava Art and Fine Craft Festival with vendors selling some very diverse arts and crafts.  There will be photography, gourds, pottery, paintings,  handmade knives and much more! A great place to purchase one of a kind Easter and Mother’s Day gifts. Concessions by Candi will also be available with homemade cinnamon rolls, pulled pork sandwiches and other goodies.  Admission is free and there will be people demonstrating their art.  The festival will be open Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
