Louanna Mae Curry

Louanna Mae Curry, 83 years, 9 months, and 8 days old, passed to her Heavenly home on February 22, 2015 at her home with her family by her side.

 

Louanna was born May 14, 1931 in Ava, Mo. at Mt. Zion to Murley and Audra Mae (Spurlock) Grabeel. She graduated from Ava High School.

 

Louanna was a life long resident of the Ava community.
On August 14, 1949, Louanna and James Curry were united in marriage in Kansas City, Mo. and to this union three daughters were born.

Louanna was baptized at age 14 by Rev. Howard Woodruff, in a local creek. As a Christian and member of the Ava General Baptist Church, Louanna taught a youth Sunday School class for at least 25 years, and served as the director of the Vacation Bible School program for 20-plus years. She also served as a delegate to the General Association, and locally, as a member of the Pulpit Committee. She was an active member of the Women’s Missionary Society.

 

Louanna was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ava Chapter #47.   In earlier years when her daughters were in high school, she served as Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls.

 

Louanna was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Her joy was spending time with her family and friends, but most of all, she delighted in her grandchildren.

 

Louanna was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Jim in 2013.

 

She is survived by three daughters, Carol Curry, Sue Curry Jones and husband, Keith, and Penny Loftin and husband, Burrely, all of Ava, Mo., three grandchildren, Jeremy Loftin and wife, Leah, Marshfield, Mo., Michael Shiverdecker, Charleston, SC and Bridget Loftin, Ava, Mo., two great grandchildren, Connor and Blaire Loftin, Marshfield, Mo., nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services for Louanna will be Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo. with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Wed. from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Ava General Baptist Memorial Fund.
