By Sue Curry Jones

Ava Board of Aldermen and city officials convened on Tuesday, Nov. 25, for the exclusive purpose of choosing an architectural firm for the remodel of the vacant Town & Country Bank building on South Jefferson, in Ava. The meeting started at 5:00 p.m.

Firms presenting to council were Gaskin Hill Norcross, Sapp Design Associates, and Butler Rosenbury & Partners. Each company was given a 20-minute time frame to give an overview of job-related projects, and architect qualifications.

The board voted unanimously for Sapp Design Associates Architects, of Springfield, Mo.   Motions were by David Norman and Bill Long, and all councilmen were present for the vote.

Council also convened a closed session; however, according to City Clerk Suzanne Welsh, no actions were taken.

Ava Board of Aldermen and city officials are scheduled to meet again on Thursday, Dec. 11. The session will convene at 6:00 p.m. in council chambers, at City Hall, 127 SW 2nd Avenue, Ava, Mo.
