Ava R-1 School Board Holds Special Meeting

On Monday, Oct. 27, the Ava R-1 School Board posted notice of a special closed session meeting slated for Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 5:30 p.m.

According to Superintendent Dr. Nancy Lawler, the board did not vote or take action on any issues during the closed session. However, Lawler did say the board members discussed “a legal issue tied to personnel.”

Upon convening to open, board members were advised of a mainte­nance issue in the high school, and a termite problem in the elementary library.

Board member Jeff Davis was absent for the session.

As the Douglas County Herald goes to press Oct. 29, notice was received the Ava R-1 School Board has scheduled an additional special meeting for Thursday, Oct. 30, at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting agenda notes the closed session will convene for legal and personnel issues.
