Once again the Lord blessed us with another glorious summer day to worship and praise him, and thank him for all the blessings he has poured out upon us.
Our morning message this week was entitled, Edification or Body Building, in Scripture.” With our text being taken from Acts 20, verse 32. We discussed at length, “the word of grace, which is able to build you up, and give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”
We looked at the reference in I Timothy 4:8, “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come,” which plainly indicates what we know of physical exercise, and the ramifications of “Spiritual exercise,” specifically “the exercise of our faith, and the necessary exercise in God’s Word.
If we not only pick God’s Word, the Holy Bible up “regularly, but also put the principles taught there into use consistently in our lives, we will indeed be giving ourselves a workout which will render eternal rewards, and be there-by built up in grace, through the word of God.
Our evening message was entitled, “Grow Up in the Faith,” taken from the text located in II Peter 3:10-18. We discussed the phenomenon that present itself in so many, if not all present day churches, denominations, fellowships; that of people who attend worship services on a regular basis, who have not “Grown Up” actually “Matured” in faith, who may have been members of church, yet they still only receive those scripture which fit in their own narrow, stilted view of religion; having never grown out of the being “spoon fed” stage, spiritually.
The church of our Lord Jesus Christ needs to be built up in grace, grown up in faith, and actively delivering the Gospel of Christ to a lost and dieing world.
Come and join us in worship next Sunday, I’ll try to, “Leave a light on for you.”
