Douglas Co. Democrats Meet Aug. 12

The Douglas County Democrats had their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Guacamole Mexican Restaurant.
Meeting was called to order at 5:15 p.m. by the Chair Teresa Tost.
It was agreed to accept the minutes from July’s meeting with no revisions or modifications.
The treasurer gave the financial report and provided members with the committee’s current balance.  He was told there was still some money which needed to be turned in from members which was from  different Farmer’s Markets this summer.
The Chair reported that she had received very favorable reports about both of our political forums and the forum hosted by the Douglas County Republican Party.  She shared all the election results, including that there was a 38.25% turnout of the citizens of Douglas County. She also shared her current list of chairmen and chairwomen from our group which serve the different townships.
There was discussion about the upcoming Farmer’s Market for September.  It was decided that we would attempt to have a booth on Saturday, Sept. 6, when the Fox Trotters would be in town. The chair asked the secretary to send out an email and make phone calls one week before this date to see which members would be available to bring items for sale and/or work the booth, then the chair will make the decision about our participating on that Saturday.
Secretary Tanya Williams announced that there would be a breakfast at the Ava Community Center on that same Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m. to help the Meals on Wheels program and she urged all members to attend.
Next there was the election of officers.  Motion was made and seconded to accept the current slate of officers for another two year term. The motion passed unanimously. These officers will continue to serve:  Teresa Tost, chair; Sandy Hylton, vice chair; Chaz Franzke, treasurer; and Tanya Williams, secretary.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Guacamole Mexican Restaurant.  Dinner will be at 5 p.m. with the meeting following at 5:30 p.m.
Motion was made and seconded to adjourn at 5:40 p.m. Motion passed unanimously, so the meeting was adjourned.
