We had another great Sunday service. Our new pastor, Brother Vic Murdy, and his wife, Carol, are settling in. We were blessed with new microphones for the church. Sister Susan Arndt blessed the youth with KJV ‘Girls’ Bibles and the teenagers with Crossfire Bibles from Gabriel Swaggart Ministries. Following prayer requests and congregational singing, we turned our attention to the Sunday School lesson based on I Corinthians 1:10-17. Here Paul identifies the lack of church unity as based on man looking unto and following man instead of man looking unto our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He clearly reiterates that it was Jesus who died on the cross for the remission of our sins and none other.
The youth sang three specials before the pastor presented his message that was based on Galations 5:17-26 where believers are to “walk in the spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh’. This sermon was the second of a series inclusive of the three ways the devil draws us away from God: thru the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. We are looking forward to next week’s service and our Bible study of Revelation 4 following our noon dinner.
We thank God for the opportunity made available to our church to visit the Care Manor Nursing Home, in Mountain Home, Arkansas on August 1, 2014. The youth sang their special songs and then all entered in for a time of song and fellowship. Two souls were saved and we all were blessed during our time there. They kindly asked us to return as often as we can.
The next 5th Sunday fellowship meeting at Black Jack Church will be August 31. Services begin at 10:00 a.m. and popcorn preaching at 11:00 a.m. and again after our dinner break into the afternoon. Everyone is welcome to join us .
