Summer is here, and the forecast is for a hot one. Air conditioners and fans will get a workout, for sure.

My granddaughter, Dana, has been here bush-hogging the pasture, finishing this Monday. She keeps busy with her mowing jobs also. Dana was here Monday morning and was taking her friend, Dean Ledbetter’s tractor home to him. And by the way, he reads my news column to keep up with our activities.

Jerry Miller has her vegetables growing, and I’m looking forward to sharing some as she has promised. How nice to receive birthday greetings from folks I’ve never met. One couple, Brent and Allene Herd, who lived down here 34 years ago, wrote that they now live in Miller, Mo.

I appreciated all of the pretty cards I received. Much appreciation. It’s not so bad growing older.

Daughter, Karen and I will be celebrating my birthday Tuesday in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and doing some shopping.

My great-granddaughter, Jaycee Davis, is wearing a bandage on her knee as she slipped and fell. Not too pleasant for her.

The Friendly Neighbors Extension Club meets at 10 a.m. Thursday at the ambulance shed to tack a quilt and also for the business meeting.

The 75th annual meeting of White River Electric Co-op features a car show and recording artist, Ricky Skaggs, on Sept. 6 in Branson.

Mike King and his wife, from Oklahoma, and other family members were here over the weekend taking care of their mother, Stella King’s, home since she passed away. Her friends and church family all miss her.

Lilly Ridge Church had the Sunday evening services at Gainesville Health Care Center. Sunday, July 6, will be our bi-monthly potluck dinner and communion service. Sunday evening at 6 p.m. will be the monthly business meeting and sing-and-share time.
