Quad Cities

July 7, 2014. Storms, storms, storms. Tipton got hit hard last Monday afternoon. It came right down my street and took down a lot of big trees again. It just missed me again. This is a tiny town of less than 4,000 and it took down more than 300 trees around town. My street is lined on both sides with big limbs they haven’t moved yet. They’ve been cutting up the trunks and moving them first. They said there was 70 to 80 miles an hour straight line winds. They think one reason it uprotted the big trees was because of all the rain we’ve been getting and the ground being so saturated. I was trying to copy the pictures of the storm from the Tipton paper, but my printer went bad. It started printing everything in blue and used the blue ink up. I got more and it ate it up right away so I’m wasting my money on ink again. I may as well get a new one. They sure don’t last long for me. I’ve got some more things I wanted to print too. Sombody gave Frank Dee a photo of over eighty eagles they took somewhere. I was going to make an enlargement for him so they will show up better. I’d like to have one too. I will get those done before long. I went to the newspaper office this morning and they had a big stack of papers left with pictures of the storm damage. I got some more. Last night on the television they were showing different tornadoes on the ground. They wer northwest of here and coming this way, but I guess we got lucky here.

The John Deere golf tournament starts this week in Silvis, IL. Frank Dee lives real close to it. Sometimes some people park in his back yard.

Anita got the cataract removed from her left eye and she can now see out of that eye again. She’s supposed to get the right one done on Thursday the 10th of this month. I will be glad for her to get it done.

It is really flooding bad all around this whole area. Grandson, Jared, and his family had to go live with Lisa in Fruitland, Iowa because their place was getting flooding. They just bought it last year and the people lied and told them it didn’t flood there. I don’t know how people can be so dishonest, but they are.

Well, I think that’s all I have for this time, so take care of yourselves and bye, bye for now.
