Sunday school opened with scripture reading from Isaiah 40:28-31, “Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?” This is a verse to encourage us and to tell us to have no fear. God does not sleep. He is always there watching over his people. Larry led the opening prayer then we were dismissed for classes. The adult class is reading and discussing Psalms.
We had a good group out for our worship service. Casey led our congregational singing and does a wonderful job. We are always glad for each and every one who comes each Sunday and helps in the service. I firmly believe that if you make an effort for God, He will bless that effort. We were glad to have our visitors, which included our grandaughter, Taylor Dawn, and friend, Reese. Jerry took his text from John 4:43–44. The people of Nazareth were offended at the teaching of Jesus. He did not do many miracles there, because of their unbelief. We must believe and have faith in God if we expect our prayers to be answered and our lives to be blessed. Prayer requests were made at the end of the service with a special request for Betty Smith. She is having some test done this week, and I know she will appreciate your prayers.
We trust everyone had a nice Fourth of July with family and friends. We enjoyed visiting our granddaughter, Jessica, and her family in Jefferson City. We all watched the fireworks from the Capitol lawn Friday night and then helped our great-granddaughter, Novalee, celebrate her 3rd birthday on Saturday. Dustin, Tina and family spent some time in Arkansas. Hazel is supposed to be back this week from her trip and VBS is just around the corner. We enjoyed visiting with James and Linda Monday when they stopped by. We don’t visit with our neighbors nearly enough!…….Have a good rest of the week and remember……..He who buries his talent is making a grave mistake. “Neglect not the gift that is in thee,” 1st Timothy 4:14.
