Worship service at Goodhope General Baptist Sunday had attendance of 79.
When we go to church on Sunday morning we need to forget about ourselves, concentrate on Him and worship Him. Many times we sit in church with things in our mind.
Prayer requests were taken. Announcements were read by Bro. Lance. We had good congregational singing. Instrumental was played by Glen Robertson on banjo and Sue on piano while congregation was shaking hands and welcoming each other. Children did penny march, that’s always a joy to watch the expression on their faces, “surely you have a nickel for my basket.”
We had a very pleasant surprise Sunday – Bob and Robin Nagel’s granddaughter, Kayli, sang a special accompanied by Glen on banjo. What an awesome voice Kayli has. We are looking forward to hearing her again.
Also David Lafferty played piano and sang. We certainly enjoy David’s talent on piano.
Pastor David Welsh chose Jeremiah 4. The same sin we so willingly persue will destroy us. Repent, change directions. He also used Joel 2:12, “The vine is dried up and the fig tree languisheth; the promegranate tree, the palm tree aos, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered, because joy is withered away from the sons of men.” Sin will take you further than you want to go and cost you more than you want to pay.
The Fifth Sunday Night Singing was well attended at Goodhope General Baptist with lots and lots of “good singing” with snacks and fellowship afterward. The next Fifth Sunday Night Singing will be in August at Pleasant Ridge.
Saturday, July 5th we will be having a 4th of July Celebration. The church will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, drinks and fireworks. Everyone else needs to bring side dishes. Starting time will be 7:00 p.m. The plan is to have music also.
Pauline called me on the phone and said she didn’t have much news, so this is about all I have. Remember God loves you.
Goodhope General Baptist welcomes everyone to come worship with us if you don’t have a home church.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, I John 1:9.
