The Ava Saddle Club held their regular monthly meeting on July 7. The Missouri Family Rodeo held on June 21 was a big success. The occasional rain showers didn’t seem to bother anyone! We would love to make this an annual event.
There are still lots of activities to plan for. This Saturday, July 12 will be another Saddle Series Fun Show. There are only two fun shows left this year. The club is requesting that if you are going to show that you please dress appropriately for a family event. Long sleeved shirts for the judged events, t-shirts are fine for the speed events, but nothing inappropriate on the shirts, and no holey jeans or tank tops. The final show will be August 9 with prizes being awarded after the show.
On July 19 the Douglas County Foxtrotting Horse Breeders Association will be holding their annual gaited horse show at the saddle club. Contact them for more information.
We will be hosting a Ranch Versatility Show for the Sho-Me Horse Show Association on July 26. The classes in this show include Ranch Cutting, Working Cow, Trail, Ranch Pleasure and Reining. There are 4 divisions; open, amateur, novice and youth. If you’ve never been to one of these type of shows come on out and see what it’s all about. There’s no charge to watch, but we would love to have you bring your horse and join in! For more information you can call 417-683-0391. Or check out Sho-Me’s website or Facebook page.
The work on the arena has been postponed until October because of all the rain we’ve been having. Just can’t get enough dry days in a row to start working on the dirt. But that’s a good problem to have in July!
As always, we need volunteers to help out at all of our events. If you are a member, or would like to become a member, and like to see these kind of events going on at your saddle club, we need your help. It takes some work to put these on, but we always have a good time doing it. If you want to join or you would like to volunteer you can contact Sonny Nelson, president, at 683-6717. Support your saddle club with more than just your dues, bring your helping hands and let’s make this the best saddle club around!
