Mt. Olive Church

This past Sunday, our church celebrated its homecoming and the 107th year of being an organized body of believers. There was lots of reminiscing by everyone. We had several visitors who grew up attending church there and had some good stories to tell. The current building was built by Rev. John Shine in 1947. I remember attending on “dinner day” with my folks.  There would be such a crowd! Linda said she would always get a new dress and a new pair of shoes. It was a day that everyone looked forward to. We appreciate all who came this year. We were glad to have all the visitors. We had several from Eastern Gate, including their pastor and his wife, James and Linda Orick. They came after church at Garrison. Also Dillon Morrison and his family, Bill and Edna Mae Pruitt, from Springfield, and lots of others. I can’t put all the names down, but we are so glad you came!

We stopped by the Ozark Nursing and Care last Friday afternoon and visited with Iona Maggard and so did Loren and Hazel. Iona is doing okay. We were hoping she would get to come to our homecoming. She is our oldest living member. We also visited Fern Nelson.  Fern fell and broke a shoulder and hip two weeks ago, so remember her when you pray. We know she will appreciate it. We went to church with Fern when Jerry pastored in Ozark.  We also got to visit with Ashley Herd. She grew up in our church at Chadwick and works at Ozark Nursing.

Hazel and Lisa are off on a trip this week. Have fun ladies and be safe. Many  people are on vacations this time of year. Remember to pray for our country, the sick, especially those who are battling cancer. It seems like every day we hear of someone else.  May God’s healing hand touch them. And remember …… If at first you don’t succeed, try reading the instructions. God’s Manual for Life, the Bible, is our ‘set of instructions.’

“Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life,” Proverbs 4:13.
