As we close in on summer, I am amazed at the beauty I see around me every day. God surely does bless us with His handiwork. Psalms 95, “For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the strength of the hills is His also. The sea is His and He made it; and His hand formed the dry land.” That pretty much says it all. The earth and all that is in it, on it, around it, above and below, was made by the Master. Verse 6 “O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our maker.”
When we come together to worship at our different churches, we are gathering together to praise and glorify the same God. He is there, and He knows what we stand in need of.
Prayer requests were made for several who are still out sick. Praise reports on answered prayers, Janie is feeling better and able to be back in church. We had several for Sunday school and for worship service. The kids sang a new song that Hazel has been teaching them and they made cards in class to hand out to their dads since it was Father’s Day. All the dads’ present received gifts, with Dustin taking the honors of being the youngest dad and also having the most children present. I just want to say how proud we are of all dads everywhere who love their children enough to take them to church! After singing and special songs, our worship service began with Jerry taking his text from Matthew 7:7-12, as a Father’s Day message. Our heavenly Father wants to give good things to us, just as we, as parents, want to provide only the best for our children.
Sunday nights’ message was taken from II Peter 3. There are so many who don’t believe the “end-time” prophecy. The Bible calls them scoffers but, the Lord is patient. His love is un-measurable. He will come again, as promised, but in His time, not ours. He is not willing that any should perish, but that all men be saved. And remember……”Once the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water,” I Peter 3:20.
We want to invite everyone to the 4th Sunday in June Homecoming at Mt Olive, this Sunday, June 22. There will be dinner at noon and then singing and testimony service in the afternoon. If you can’t come to morning services, you’re still welcome to come and eat and enjoy the fellowship and singing. Looking forward to seeing you there. God Bless.
