It’s hard to believe it’s June already. It’s always a busy time for everyone. There are lots of things to do and places to go. Just be sure to make time to serve the Lord. He makes time for us. Sunday, June 22, will be Homecoming services at Mt Olive. The annual “fourth Sunday in June” has been going on for as long as I can remember. Lots of good memories for folks who have lived in the area and attended this church, whether long time members or maybe you were brought to church here as a child, either way, it will be a nice time to revisit, and meet old acquaintances. It will be the 107th year that this service has been held here at the church.
This week, services started with scripture reading from Proverbs 2:1-5, with opening prayer led by Sister Hazel. We are reading in Psalms in adult class. Young people had a lesson on the Lamb and Lion. They sang the worship and praise song. Prayer request were taken. Sister Janie Morrison is still sick. Prayer was then led by Pastor Jerry. Worship began with scripture reading from Luke 19, using that as the text for the morning message, with emphasis being placed on the fact that you are important to God. He knows when you are seeking Him and will welcome you with open arms. Just like Zacchaeus. Jesus saw him in that tree and knew he was seeking Him. Jesus called to him, by name, and Jesus knows your name also and is calling you.
We invite you to come and worship with us this week if you are looking for a Bible based church. And remember, Jesus is a friend who walks in when the world has walked out. “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
