Fox Trotters’ Spring Show Features 3-Year-Old Futurity

Come On Man, owned by Adam Jokisch, of Freeburg, Ill., and ridden by Vance Vahle, claimed the garland in the Open 3-Year-Old Futurity Championship at the Spring Show of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association last Saturday night.

The 3-Year-Old Futurity and Spring Show of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association concluded last Saturday night with the crowning of champions in various categories of judging.
A traditional highlight of the Spring Show is seeing the 3-year-olds nominated for the Futurity make their inaugural ride in the show arena.
Futurity horses make their first appearance in the preliminary classes on Thursday, with the top 10 in those classes returning for the championship classes in three categories on Saturday night.
Winning the open futurity championship on Saturday night was Come On Man, owned by Adam Jokisch, of Freeburg, Ill., and ridden in the show by Vance Vahle, of Bolivar.
The fox trotter had placed first in the qualifying stallions and geldings class on Thursday night, as well.
Placing second and securing the title of reserve champion in the open futurity was Outta The Blue, shown by Garrett King for Joe Stewart and Jennifer Stewart of Farmington, Ark. He had placed second in the preliminary stallions and geldings class on Thursday.
Three-Year-Old Futurity champion in the Amateur Owned & Trained category was Glory B Rockin, owned and shown by Mitzi Mantle, of Sparta. Reserve champion was Neat Little Package, shown by James McNail for James McNail and Judith McNail, of DeSoto.
These fox trotters had also placed first and second respectively in the preliminary futurity mares class on Thursday.
Winning the championship in the Open Amateur division of the 3-Year-Old Futurity was Be My Guest, ridden by Craig Dansie, for Craig Dansie and Michelle Dansie, of Cody, Wyo.
Taking reserve champion in that class was King’s Rhythm Queen M., shown by Eddie Moore for Eddie Moore and Rose Moore, of Lebanon.
Both these horses had taken first place in their respective qualifying classes on Thursday.
The 2014 Spring Show opened in traditional manner on Tuesday last week with the Youth Seminar. The young exhibitors held a fun show on Tuesday night before the 35th annual show officially got under way on Wednesday.
Despite thunderstorms and rain showers, a total of some 74 classes were exhibited during the week, closing with Saturday’s championship show in the main arena.
