This last week has been a busy one at Bethany Baptist Church and continues to be as busy. The Young Women N Christ Bible Study met Monday afternoon at 2:30. Darlene Sorensen picked up the girls after school in the church van and they came to the church for their meeting. The Ladies Bible Study was moved to Wednesday morning because Darlene and Sally were having a yard sale, Thursday. The church is to have a booth at the Heart of the Ozarks, Friday evening. The ladies were asked to make some cobblers for that event.
The church will be having its Independence Day Service, Sunday the 29th. Veterans will be honored in the morning service. There will be fellowship supper at 5:00 that evening followed by a program of special music and testimonies afterward at 6:00.
We were pleased to have several visitors, Sunday morning. Visitors are always welcome in our services. We are a King James Bible-loving, fundamental Baptist church, believing in a literal interpretation of the scriptures. Having believed in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and having confessed that we are sinners deserving of hell, we trust the grace of God for the eternal security of our souls.
Dan Stillings sang a special song, Sunday morning. Pastor Bob Sorensen used Proverbs 3:5-10 as his text and preached on “Living right side up in an upside down society.”
His advice was to trust God before anything else. Trust involves faith in the loving kindness of the Lord and confidence in His ability to produce what He promises and to give us what we need. We need to commit to the Lord in all areas of our life, our customs, our manners, our actions, our conversation, and our finances. We should be good stewards of all that the Lord gives us, the money, the time, the energy. If we have given the Lord control over all things even in our tithes, we know that He will take care of us. His guiding may involve chastening, but we can trust Him even in the chastening. We know that all things will work together for a bright future.
