Ava’s Loge Is Nominee For Sports Award

Voting for the 2nd annual 1 Awards is now live online and Ava has a nominee in the running.
The Springfield Sports Commission and KY3, Inc. will present the 1 Awards sponsored by Elliott Lodging on July 29 at the Ramada Oasis Convention Center in Springfield. The event will honor area scholastic athletics from the previous year by recognizing the best athlete, teams and specialty awards (or the “1”) in various categories.
Online voting is open until July 22 at http://OzarksSportsZone.com. This unique feature of the 1 Awards allows fans, athletes and communities to have a say in choosing the “1” through the voting process.
Four nominees have been chosen in each category based on a combination of honors, statistics, team success, individual performance and citizenship. A bio of each athlete/team or category is provided. Fans are allowed to vote one time per day.
Ben Loge, a 2014 graduate of Ava High School, is a nominee for the “1” Award in baseball.
Loge was a two-way star for the Ava Bears this year. On the mound, Loge had a 2.53 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 58 innings. He had one perfect game and one no-hitter on the season.
At the plate, he hit .434 with 18 RBI and 14 extra base hits.
Other nominees in baseball are Tyler Ast, of Springfield Catholic, Jay Kaufman, from Forsyth, and Jacob Ruder, of Nixa.
Winners will be announced at the event on the night of July 29, at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Oasis Convention Center in Springfield. A social hour with food begins at 6 p.m., with the ceremony to follow at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.the1 awards.com.
