Though May 30th has been the Memorial date for a long time it was moved up to the weekend earlier this year, by the calendar, and many folks were in our area decorating graves the past weekend.

Friendly Neighbors Extension Club will have their Thursday, June 5th picnic at Rocky Top campground at 6:00 p.m. with a potluck supper. Diane Easterday is a member of the club and she with husband, Joe, are good hostesses. All members are encouraged to attend.

Neoma and Arreaun Moody were at Lilly Ridge and other cemeteries in Arkansas decorating graves Monday. Neoma and I visited by phone Monday evening. Daughter, Karen, and I were in Mountain Home this week for my two doctor appointments and did some shopping.

Coming home for decorating their loves ones graves, and visiting in their sister’s home for refreshments afterward, were Helen Miles and Jun Ownby from Springfield, Elaine Baldwin from Pineville, Louisiana; Tammy Childress from Jefferson City, Theresa Bridges, from Kansas City, Steve and Debbie Robinson, nieces and nephews from Springfield of Jean (Gaddy) Guiley’s daughters visited her also.

Paralee Rea and Ruth Stone took flags to all graves of veterans at Oakland Arkansas Cemetery.

Karen Davis had a long weekend at her Hardy, Arkansas fleamarket booth and Dave accompanied her there for the long weekend.

Jerry Miller kept some flowers for me over winter months and brought them home to me the past week. I appreciate her and granddaughter Dana Taylor, who brought me nice blooming flowers also, she bought.

Over a year ago Beulah Satterfield and I bought young smoke trees and mine has four unusual blooms this year.

Remember if no one has a smile, give them one of yours.
