T.O.P.S.

T.O.P.S. was called to order by Sharon at 3:45. There was a combined weight loss of 5.23 pounds with 13 weighing in. Evelyn was the highest loser and also our instructor. The information she shared was about habits and how they affect our weight loss.

Over half our habits aren’t conscious decisions. Even when we decide to end a habit, sometimes the habit sneaks back. Evelyn suggested we stop and think when we find ourselves doing the habit or thinking of doing it. Perhaps we always get a candy bar after work: why not bring a granola bar and redirect that habit. Perhaps we like to visit with friends in the snack bar: why not talk to friends at a less distracting and tempting location?

The cues for habits can be the time of day, a certain place, emotions, or even friends. The trick is to redirect a powerful habit until that habit works for you. We have chosen a healthy way of life. Let our habits help us in attaining and maintaining that choice.

T.O.P.S (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a non-profit international weight loss support group open to anyone 7 years of age or older. T.O.P.S meets from 3pm to 4:30pm in the basement of the courthouse. Come and visit us to find out more about T.O.P.S. We welcome anyone looking to get and stay healthy.
