We missed church at Walnut Grove on Sunday so that we could attend church with my mom, Nora Hunsaker, for her 90th birthday. We went to Mansfield to church then Nora Hunsaker, Lee Williams, Earnie and Helen Cook, Violet Flair, Delmar and I went to Seymour for lunch at McDonald’s.
Sunday evening was the fish fry at Walnut Grove Church. There was lots of fish and all the fixings. We sure enjoyed the time spent eating and visiting with friends and neighbors.
On Saturday, we attended the birthday party for Nora Hunsaker’s 90th birthday at Vern and Kathleen Deatherage’s cabin. We all enjoyed beans, cornbread, coleslaw, ribbon taters, fried chicken, and a birthday cake. Bob Hammond and group came and entertained with wonderful music. We had a lot of fun trying to surprise mamma. Delmar and I went to Mansfield and picked up Mamma and Lee then drove to Seymour and shopped around to waste time then drove to the party. I believe mamma was surprised and pleased with the celebration. I am so happy to still have my mother alive and doing good. She sure does not look or act like she is 90 years old.
Delmar has been busy mowing, and weed eating. The grass is growing fast now, and a lot of pollen in the air which is giving a lot of people fits with allergies.
Eldon Bice has been in the hospital but is home now recouperating.
I talked to Aunt Violet Morris and she had a really good day. Her son Howard Morris, had been over and took her to see her other son, Herb Morris. That was the first time she had been to visit anyone since she had been in the nursing home.
Those visiting us this week were, Vern Deatherage, Nora Hunsaker, Lee Williams, Bevy Moore, Donna Bannister, Beth Stafford, Johnathon Snelson and Dorothy Davis.
On Monday evening, Beth and Johnathon brought our supper of fish and fried potatoes. We sure enjoyed the meal.
On Friday evening, Delmar and I joined everyone celebrating an 80th birthday party for David Dickens. David has been a lifelong friend and family member ever since he married Patsy Hall. I think at last count there were 70 people in attendance for David’s party. We enjoyed gospel music and hymns (and lots of good food).
Until next week, smile and make someone’s day.
