We hope everyone had a safe and blessed Memorial Day week-end. The weather certainly was as nice as it could be. It was a little warmer than normal, but, still very comfortable. I am thanking God for the wonderful rains we have been having. Everything is nice and green. We visited several cemeteries and they were all so pretty with the freshly mowed grass in contrast to all the flowers that had been placed on graves.
We started out our Sunday morning services with scripture reading from Hebrews 1:1-6. Opening prayer dismissed us to classes. Adult class is currently in the book of Psalms. The children sang. After special singing and prayer request were made, then we had prayer. Janie Morrison is still not feeling well, and will appreciate your prayers as she awaits test results to try to pinpoint why she has been sick these last few weeks. Worship started with scripture from Joshua 4. God told Joshua to place the stones in the middle of Jordan as a memorial. We keep communion as a memorial to Christ. We have freedom because of those who have fought for our country, thus, Memorial Day.
Congratulations to Casey and Kim Ewing. Their new baby girl is here. Garret is a proud big brother. I saw her picture on FB, and she’s beautiful, of course!
We dismissed Sunday night services because it was Memorial Day. But, next week will be services as usual. We invite you to come worship with us next weekend.
Did you know…….the practice of putting flowers on soldier’s graves is known to have started during the Civil War when women in the South would put flowers on the graves of soldiers of both Union and Confederate.
Remember ….. Your walk talks, and your talk talks, but your walk talks louder than your talk talks! …….”A minute of thought is worth more than an hour of talk.” …..”Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips,” Psalms 141:3.
