The Carl Neiman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met on May 8, 2014, in the basement of the Ava General Baptist Church. The meeting was called to order by Regent Nina Carter at 7:13 p.m., and opened with prayer by Chaplin Sherry Beasley. There were 9 members and 2 guests in attendance. The Opening Ritual was then observed. The Pledge of Alliance, The American’s Creed and the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution were recited. We were thrilled to welcome Judy Davenport (Lee Huett’s Mother) to our meeting. Judy is the regent for the White Alloe Chapter. Regent Nina then gave the President General’s report. Today was Harry Truman’s birthday. Happy Birthday Mr. President! The minutes were read by Secretary Helen Hoogendoorn. The minutes were approved as read. Janet made a motion that we re-instate Theresa Nash as a member, Sandra seconded the motion. All members let their agreement be known by the word aye. All ayes, no opposed. Chaplin Sherry asked our preference as to where to send the proceeds from our bus collection and Best Choice Labels. The Hindman Settlement School in Kentucky was chosen. We, at the Carl Neiman Chapter, would like to express our heartfelt sympathy and send our prayers to the Tyrrell Family. We would also like to send our sympathy and prayers out to the Myers family. May God’s love comfort you.
