There has been so much activity going on here at Ava General Baptist Church. We celebrated Easter last month with a wonderful Choir presentation. I hope everyone received a blessing from our Choir. They did an awesome job of proclaiming that Jesus did not stay in the grave, but He lives forever. Our Sunday school classes have been teaching and studying God’s Word in ways that help us apply those lessons to our lives every day. Our Children’s church is very active and our kids are learning songs each week that praise our Jesus and His love for us. We appreciate all our Sunday school teachers, nursery workers and our children’s church volunteers. We appreciate their service and their commitment to our Lord and Savior.
We celebrated our High School graduates and showed our appreciation in our late services this week. Congratulations to all our young adults who are now heading for a new path. We pray for them as they continue either with their educational dreams or in the workforce.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day and that you showed your mom how much you appreciate her and let her know how much she is loved. Our love for mom never goes away and stays in our hearts forever.
On May 18th, there will be a Ladies’ Banquet at 6 p.m. at the fellowship hall in our youth center. This will be to celebrate all our wonderful ladies.
On May 25th, the evening services are dismissed, as well as, Monday May 26th, morning men meeting for Memorial Day holiday. The office will be closed as well.
Our morning worship services have been expressing how very important Jesus Christ is in our lives and how we need to have faith and obey His Word always. This Sunday Bro. Oren read from Matt. 18:1-6. The disciples were worried about who would be greatest in the kingdom of heaven. God was worried that we don’t keep our hearts pure and innocent like a child. A child gives his heart, believes and trusts. They just want to seek Jesus and be with Him. Don’t let Satan use pride to divide your heart that will make you start looking for “what’s in it for me” in everything you do. God needs you to be humble and see what He has planned for you. He loves you and wants a relationship with you.
Please pray for all those who are ill, homebound or in the nursing homes. It can get discouraging and lonely, but keep them lifted up so their needs are being met. Pray for LaVern Ashby, Irma Evans, Louann Curry and Norman Alcorn. Also pray for Junior Shull, Sharon Barlow and Lorene Maloney who are recovering from medical tests and surgeries. We pray for our missionaries all around the world. Their lives depend on prayer and we want to keep them safe as they spread the word of God. We also pray for our high school graduates and those who graduated from college. Congrats Nathan Porter! I’m proud of you so keep up the good work in whatever direction you go next.
Come visit us on Sunday. We want to share God’s word and fellowship with you. Check out our webpage at avageneral.com or like us on facebook. Have a great week and we hope to see you Sunday. God Bless.
