Things sure are getting busy and the calendar is filling up even more with so much fun stuff coming up. As if there wasn’t enough to do with the farm and the calves and the chicks hatching and trees to still yet plant, there are a lot of fun community events happening too!
As for this morning, outside my window the rain is gently falling, the guineas are waking up everyone in Olga probably, and the ducklings sound like they think it’s time to play in the tub.
This week, some of our family is traveling to the great state of Texas for the Texas State Fiddle Championship called the Fiddler’s Frolic. There will be fiddlers from all over the country competing over a period of three days. I understand some have already started gathering down there. It isn’t the competition that they go for, it is the fun of getting together and jamming all day and night. The competition is just a side attraction for these die hard musicians. Most of the time, one person will compete with their fiddle, then turn around and pick up their guitar and back up the next person competing. It is more of a very large musical family rather than competitors. This will be our first year to attend, however, there is a young man from Missouri who has attended and placed several times there before. He is an incredible fiddler and plays a multitude of instruments including the guitar and the banjo. He also plays locally in several locations with his family, the Baker Family Band. You can find them throughout the year at the Baker Creek festivals and on the Silver Dollar City stages too. During the month of May, you can see them perform in Ava on the square.
Have a blessed week!
