Good morning from Girdner! Hope everyone had a great week this last week, and had a great service at church.
I failed to mention last week that Sis. Geneva Stevenson, became a great- great grandma, Bro. Dallas and Sis. Glenda became great-grandparents and their daughter, Terresa and Rev. Tom Hale in Texas, became grandparents! We welcome this beautiful little girl, named Sophie and ask God’s blessings on her and her family. Congratulations to all and to daddy and mommy too!
Our singing will be this Sunday night, April 13, at 6 p.m. We have been having some really good singings so come and join in.
Our pre-Easter services are April 16th through April 19.
Remember the sick in our community. God knows their names and needs.
Sunday morning Sis. Maxine continued with the voices around the cross. Matt. 27 speaks of Pilate and him releasing Barabbas instead of Jesus. As she read the story I thought how sad, that he had released a notable prisoner such as Barabbas instead of Jesus. Even if the people wanted him to do so, could he not have done different? But without the shedding of our Christ’s blood, we’d have no way for the salvation that is so free for us today at the asking. Just another part of God’s plan for us to be able to come to him through his son, Jesus, to be saved, and have eternal life. So many things Sis. Maxine brought in her message from these scriptures and others I thought was so good, that I’d not seen before. The Easter story as we know it, I have heard many times. But always there is something new to hear if we only listen. I think this is another reason we should always assemble ourselves in the house of God. There is always something new God sends in his messages to us.
In the 20th verse it says the chief priests and elders had pursuaded the multitude that they should ask for Barabbas, instead of Jesus. Are we ever guilty of trying to persuade someone to do something? Lord help us to always persuade in the right things to do. That we might not talk about someone and maybe lead someone to think wrong of someone. My niece reminded me of this just Friday night. It’s good to have someone remind you of things we need to work on from time to time.
Sunday night Sis. Maxine touched on having our wells cleaned out and being ready for revival. If we want to see our loved ones saved we have to have our hearts in the right place, our sins under the blood so that God might hear our prayers.
Hope everyone has a great week and attend church somewhere, and be ready to hear another message from God. You are always welcome at Girdner.
