Cross Should Not Be Removed

The letter below was actually written to the Quincy Herald-Whig in Quincy, Ill., but the topic is the same and the decision by this one judge in San Diego has a ripple effect on all of us.
The letter was shared with the Herald by Carol (Mrs. Charles) Curtis, of Ava.

To the Herald-Whig:
I just read an article in your paper that was from San Diego. It said Judge Burns of San Diego is trying to take down the large cross on Mount Soledad that is a Korean War Memorial.
I am very upset about that. My late husband, the father of my children, had to go to war just two months after our wedding in 1950. I worked in downtown San Diego for two years while he was in the Army. He and many others fought for our freedom of speech plus many other rights that are beginning to be taken away from us.
This United States of America was founded on the cross and Christians in the Constitution. So many holidays are based on our religious beliefs and one is the cross. Easter is coming up soon. It wouldn’t mean anything if it wasn’t for the cross and Jesus Christ. We should all try to save the cross no matter where it is located. I pray the people who believe will make a difference.
Thank you for the right to send letters to your paper.
I would like to start a movement to save the cross.
God bless America.
Norma Peters
Quincy, Ill.
