Class Reunions Planned At AHS Alumni Banquet

Three graduating classes of Ava High School are announcing reunions to be held in conjunction with the Alumni Banquet on Saturday, May 3.
The class of 1954 will celebrate its 60th anniversary, the class of 1959 will observe its 55th anniversary, and the class of 1969 will celebrate its 45-year reunion this year.
Members of the Class of 1954 will meet at 4 p.m. in a room provided for them at the high school for visiting prior to the banquet.
Class members Charles Mason and Chester Jenkins ask that you contact any classmates that you can.
Likewise, the Class of 1969 will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in a room at the high school.
Contact information may be sent to Kathy (Dooms) Austin, 9815 Green Meadow Road, Mtn. Grove, MO 65711; or contact Keith Moore at the Douglas County Herald in Ava.
Information letters have been mailed to many classmates, but several were returned due to improper addresses.
If you are a member of the class of 1969 and did not receive a letter, please provide contact information to one of the people listed above, or some member of your graduating class.
The class of 1959’s reunion will be a little more involved.
Class members will meet at the Rockbridge Restaurant for a noon luncheon and then, at the nearby Rockbridge Mill, from 1-3 p.m.
A room has also been reserved at the Ava High School to meet that same evening at 4 p.m. for visiting prior to the Alumni Banquet.
Tables will also be reserved at the banquet for the class of 1959.
It is hoped classmates will be able to attend all or at least one of the planned events.
Classmates planning to attend the Rockbridge luncheon should make earlier reservations by calling Sandy Amyx at 679-3619 and be sure to mention that they are part of the 1959 group.
Class members may contact Lula Mae Denney, 683-2479, or Alice Lirley at 683-5991.
Alumni Banquet tickets are available at the Ava Drug, Town & Country Bank, or the Douglas County Herald.  For out-of-town tickets contact Phyllis Swofford at 417-683-4147.
The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. on May 3. Tickets are $15 each.
