I had a real nice phone visit with Paul and Wanda Dugan about this and that. At the suggestion we perhaps should have a Neighborhood Watch in this area it seems it might be a good idea. However, getting people together might be a problem. Some church services on this hill have been cancelled the past few weeks due to the weather. I have been told that my estimate of between 6 and 8 inches of snow was too much, but it is hard to argue with a ruler. With the warmer weather most of the snow is gone except down in some ditches and in the woods, in areas that don’t receive much sun. I have yet to see any crocus trying to pop out of the ground.
St. Leo’s Church had a very nice Ash Wednesday service with more people there than usual. Good thing that Fr. Paul had the driveways and parking areas scraped. We are now into the 40 Lenten days of some fasting with a weekly Wednesday night Mass and the Stations of the Cross on Fridays, both services at 7:00 p.m. The Knights of Columbus are heading up our St. Patrick’s Gathering on Monday, Mar. 17th, starting at 4:00 p.m. with all you can eat Irish stew, potato soup, beverages and desserts. On Sunday we had a church cleaning after Mass and seeing all the little ones trying to help was precious.
Another midnight ringing of my doorbell a few nights ago – and nobody there! I thought my “pup” was going to jump out of her skin as I nearly did at the sound of the doorbell. “Pup” is now between 90 and 100 pounds. Bob and Dana Wagner continue to check on me regularly, as well as many family members.
We are still waiting for news from Dogwood residents. A phone call will do!
