Feb. 16 – Last Weeks News – Goodhope General Baptist worship service opened with 100 attendance. Bro. Lance Stillings used scripture Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee, yea I will help thee, yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Bro. Lance received prayer requests then led us in prayer, had handshakes and welcomed visitors then read announcements. We had two congregational songs then worshipped God as a cd was played. We had two specials one by Susie Adams and one by Bro. Bob Huskey. The children did the penny march then a cd was played as the children were dismissed to Children’s Church. Pastor David had prayer cloths for anyone in the congregation who wanted one. He used scripture Acts 19:11-12, “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul, so that from his body were brought unto the sick-hankerchiefs or aprons and the evil spirits went out of them.”
Ushers received tithes and offerings after Matt Jenkins prayed over them.
Pastor Dave for his sermon chose scriptures Isaiah 55:6-12, “Seek the Lord while he may be found.”, Luke 13:25-28 and Luke 16:19-31.
Don’t put off salvation too long. Turn from sin, turn to the Lord. It was a spirit-filled and powerful sermon.

A good crowd attended Bible study Wednesday night with good discussion led by our pastor, David Welsh. The young people class were preparing for a Valentine Banquet in the fellowship room for Sunday night.
Feb. 14 – Sue and Dianne went to Guacamole in Ava for Mexican then drove up to Ava Cemetery to the grave site of the late Tom Brown to check on flowers in vases.
A large crowd gathered in Larry and Lynn Clayton’s home Sunday, Feb. 16 for lunch to wish Larry a “Happy Birthday.” Larry and Lynn has been an inspiration to us all over the years.
“Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.”
The Sunday night Valentine Banquet was a huge success. Brenda Reed gave an awesome devotion from the book of Hosea. Games were played. Roy Reed got the “Best Husband Award” for reading the best Valentine poem to Brenda. A delicious meal was served. We appreciate Brenda and the young people. Sue was glad to see Jerry and Lena Wagner and Pauline Hathcock back in service with us. They had been absent due to sickness and bad weather. Spoke with Freeda Richards, she has been sick. Hope she is back with us soon.
Danny and Beth Maloney from Sparta and their daughter, Hailey from Springfield and Matt, this son from Forsyth and Pauline Richards attended Clinton Maloney’s funeral Tuesday at Clinkingbeard’s Funeral home. Clinton was Danny’s uncle. Pauline said it is a shame there has to be a death to bring old friends together.
Norma Cross, Pauline and Kenny Hunt had lunch with their Aunt Vi Tweeble and cousin, Rene St. John at Arby’s in Ozark
The Plainview basketball teams are playing in the Ava Victory tournament Thursday evening. They won beating Kirbyville. Friday night they won over Ava Victory. They will be playingChadwick Monday night. These games are at the MOCH in Ava.
Pauline Richards received a call from a cousin in Arizona. He was looking for any one related to the late Everett Bricker, or his mother’s folks, the late Viola Jenkins. They left the Goodhope are in the 1940’s, making their home in Washington. You can call Raymond Bricker at 683-4200 or Pauline at 683-2770 for more information.
Feb. 23 – Worship service opened with 90 in attendance. Bro. Lance used scripture I Thess. about not quincing the Holy Spirit. Don’t worry about what people think if the spirit moves you to stand and raise your hand to worship God during a song or go to the altar to pray.
Bro. Lance took prayer requests, prayed, read announcements, testimonies were given, congregational singing. Two worshipful cds were played and the children were dismissed to Children’s Church.
Bro. Dave’s message was “Holy Spirit.” He chose Rev. 3:1-5. Sardis “The dead church” Holy Spirit has to be present in church today or all in vain.
Bro. Dave also chose I Peter 5:8 and Luke 22:1-4.
Sunday night was a spirit filled service. After congregational singing and testimonies Pastor Dave called three prayer warriors from the congregation to come to the front, then individuals went up with a need. The prayer warriors and Pastor joined hands around them and prayed. It was an awesome service. To close service Pastor Dave chose scripture Luke 9:56, “For the son of man is not come to destroy mens lives, but to save them.”
Sue had lunch with granny and pappy Sunday. They had good eating.

Friday, Ron, Judy, Dianne and Sue went to the mall shopping in Springfield. If you want to exercise in walking, just go to the mall.
Rod and Kayli came out one day this week. Rod got some wood for Sue and Sue gave Kayli a piano lesson.
The boys at Plainview 5th and 6th graders played three games last week. Chadwick won Monday night at the MOCH in Ava. They won over Skyline Tuesday night and they won over Bradleyviulle Thursday night. There is going to be a tournament this week at Plainview.
I was sorry to hear Goldie Miller passed away. She had made her home at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center for a couple or more years. She was the last daughter of Audie and Izora Jenkins. After Izora died, he married the late Martha Wilson. They had five daughters, one died young, four are living – Audrey, Lorene, Wanda and Verda. Norma Cross and Pauline Richards are first cousins of Goldie.
