Last Weeks News – This week marks the middle of the month and every day brings us closer to spring. I know everyone will be glad for some warmer weather. Spring will come as usual, because the Bible states, there will always be seasons. It just doesn’t tell us how cold or hot those summers and winters will be!
We had a good crowd at church this past Sunday and are very grateful to all who came to help us praise and worship our God and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was good to have Edna Mae (Caudill) Pruett and her husband in church and to get to visit with them. Their church was cancelled, due to bad weather. We had lots of memories to exchange about “way back when” we went to church at Hall where her daddy preached and mine was a deacon. We didn’t have many for Sunday school, but, a good crowd for worship.
After congregational singing, Jerry took his text from 2 Timothy, 4, and I Corinthians 6:20, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” and also touched on Matthew 24:4-5. And Jesus answered and said unto them, “Take heed that no man deceive you, for many shall come in my name, saying I am Christ and shall deceive many. As we listen and absorb the teachings from God’s word, we realize that if there has ever been a time to assemble together and to take our families, and to teach them the ways of the Lord, it is now. Prayer list includes those who are sick, and our military men and women.
Special request for everyone to pray for our wounded warriors. They have fought for our freedom, now they are in another battle. One that will last a lifetime for some as they fight to heal from physical injuries. God Bless our Soldiers. Take a minute and remember….Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6. “Our children are like mirrors — they reflect our attitudes in life.”
This Weeks News – Sunshine and milder temps made for a wonderful day in these beautiful Ozark hills. It was a perfect day to get out and go to church. We were so glad to have our visitors this Sunday and last Sunday also, Hazel’s grandson, Jeremy and his wife, and Bob’s nephew and wife. We would be so happy to have the church filled with people. God would be happy too, so make plans to be with us next week.
Romans 8: 1-6 was read to open our morning service and opening prayer was led by Brother Dustin. The 8th chapter of Romans is a favorite chapter of mine. It is filled with verses full of hope. Verse 16 reads, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” Is a good answer to this question often asked , “Just how can we know we are saved?” The 24th verse says, “For we are saved by hope” and verse 31 says, “If God be for us, who can be against us” and are good to memorize.
We were glad to have Courtney, Rilee, and Logan back. They had all been sick. They sang two songs and Hazel and Loren did also. Special prayer request was made for the families and children in war-torn Syria. Also for the sick and especially those who don’t know Jesus as their personal Savior.
Worship service began with prayer request and prayer was led by Pastor Jerry Loveland. He took his text from Judges 2 . God ask the question of Israel, Why have you not followed my rules? He is asking the same question of us today. We will prosper only when we put God at the head of our churches and when our country turns back to God. “And they forsook the Lord …… and the anger of the Lord was hot against them.” Judges 2, 13-14. God’s opinion does not change with the “times”, like man’s opinion. If God proclaimed something to be wrong yesterday, it will still be just as wrong tomorrow. God will only bless those who follow him. God loves us with an everlasting love, Jeremiah 31:3. To think we are loved so much by such an awesome God is too wonderful for words.
We invite you to our church next Sunday. God loves you and so do we. And remember, you can accomplish more in one hour with God than one lifetime without Him. ***With God all things are possible. —Matthew 19:26.
