Smallett

Well, here we are again with snow on the ground and more coming down. I can remember when we used to have winters like this , but it has been a while.

I remember when the forecasters predicted flurries and that night we got 18 inches of flurries. That was back in the mid eighties.

On Christmas Day, Delmar and I drove to Clinton, MO. to spend the day with Uncle Hugh and Aunt Violet Morris, Howard and Donna Morris and Herb Morris. We ate lunch at the nursing home with Uncle Hugh, Aunt Violet and Herb.

On Dec. 31, Delmar and I went to Jack and Barbara Breshears for our annual celebration of watching the new year arrive with the shooting off of fireworks and blowing noise makers. We also had lots of tasty snacks and we played games with the kids too then Barb and I played Yahtzee while the guys watched television.

We were saddened at the passing of a good friend, Mildred Mackey.

On Saturday, we visited with Bob and Linda McCleary at McDonald’s.

Bevy Moore and I went to my sister Helen and Earnie Cook’s one evening and Helen put perms in both our hair.

On New Year’s Day, Earnie and Helen Cook, Vern and Kathleen Deatherage, Delmar and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner with our mom, Nora Hunsaker and Lee Williams. We took a bunch of pictures and shared funny stories. Our sister, Violet Flair had to work that day so couldn’t be there.

It is nice to be able to watch some good preaching on television when the weather is bad and can’t go to our home church.

I have been working on my Grandmother’s flower garden quilt. I have worked on it off and on for five years so need to finish it this winter.

Those visiting us this week were Bevy Moore, Donna Bannister, Synthia Bishop, Beth Stafford, Johnathon Snelson, Vern and Kathleen Deatherage.

I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Until next week, try to stay warm and dry and don’t forget to check on the shut-ins.
