Sarah Lynn Carter, 59

Sarah Lynn Carter, age 59, daughter of Robert and Eugenia Mae (Smith) Carter, was born April 18, 1954 in Houston, Mo. She passed away on Dec. 23, 2013 at her home in Norwood, Mo.
Sarah grew up in the Houston area attending Houston schools.
Sarah married John Carter Jan. 31, 1999. They lived on the farm in Norwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry Carter; and one son, Eric Cross.
She is survived by her husband John Carter of Norwood; two sons, Allen Cross and wife Jandi of Hartville, Mo., Jeff Cross of Norwood, Mo., one step-son John Carter and wife Sabrina of Mansfield, and one step-daughter Gwendolyn David and husband Buck of Forsyth, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother Tom Carter and wife Leeila Jo of Springfield; and two sisters, Linda Willson and husband Lynn of Pacific, Mo., and Robyn Vaughn and husband Mike of Lonedell, Mo.
Sarah had attended a country church in the Norwood area and was there as often as possible until her health failed.
She also had taken up cross-stitching and made many items to share with family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors and was a gardener, growing vegetables and flowers. Time spent riding horses was another highlight of her life. She also relished spending time on the front porch watching the cattle and drinking in the quiet scenes of the farm.
Sarah’s greatest love was time spent with her family, being with kids and grandkids. She loved her family and always welcomed family and friends as they would stop by to visit.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services were Friday Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. in the Pine Lawn Cemetery, Houston, Mo. Rev. Wayne Russell officiated. Pallbearers were John Carter, Mike Vaughn, Lynn Willson, Ronnie Carter, Rex Carter and Coy Carter.
