Offenders Sentenced At January Law Day

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, during Law Day proceedings, Judge Craig Carter sentenced two defendants to the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Danny Joe Coonts, 67, of Drury, was sentenced to three years in prison for two counts of receiving stolen property. The sentence was handed down by Judge Carter after a Douglas County jury found Coonts guilty of the charges following a jury trial that was held on Oct. 15, 2013.
The offenses occurred on or about June 16, 2011, and the incident was investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
Dylan Slade, 22, of Ava, was sentenced to three years in prison for possession of a controlled substance. Slade had his probation revoked after Probation and Parole filed violation reports with the Court.
The offense occurred Feb. 24, 2011, and was also investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
