Local Gymnasts Earn Awards At Competition in Springfield

Chernastics Gymnastics teams competed on Sunday, Dec. 15, in the Winter Invitational Peppermint Twist Competition held in Springfield. It was an all day event with 1,276 children competing from all over the Southwest Missouri area with ages ranging from 3 to 16.
There were 26 gymnasts from Ava, Seymour and Fordland areas that participated in the bi-yearly event at Ozark Mountain Gymnastics Center.
Local participants included:
Preschool Beginners Division for ages 3 & up: Sydney Brooke, Maleah Grabher, Jentry Harley, Claire McDonald, Jaidyn Philpott and Madelyn Sabilion. They all received a trophy.
Novice Division for ages 3 & up: Khloe Angel took 1st place and 1st place overall in her age Division and Alexis Philpott received a trophy in her age division.
Beginner Division for ages 4 & under: Laikan Newman took 3rd place and 3rd place overall.
Beginner Division for age 5: Katie Brooks took 1st place and 1st place overall, Chylynn Johnson took 3rd place and 3rd place overall.
Beginner Division for age 6: Elle Key took 2nd place and 2nd place overall; Jasmine Sabilion took 5th place.
Beginner Division for age 7: Larkin took 2nd place and 2nd place overall
Beginner Division for ages 8 & 9: Deandra Huff took 1st place and 1st place overall; Lauren Brooks took 3rd place and 3rd place overall; and Riley Ferrier took 4th place and 4th place overall.
Beginner Division for ages 11 & up: Erycka Powell took 1st place and 1st place overall.
Advanced Beginner Division age 8: Mea Mason took 1st place and 1st place overall; Makayla Rowland took 5th place.
Advanced Beginner Division age 9: Corra Twyman took 2nd place and 2nd place overall; Ameila Emerson took 3rd place and 3rd place overall.
Advanced Beginner Division age 11 & up: Hailey Penner took 1st place and 1st place overall.
Low Intermediate Division for ages 8 & 9: Chloe Barnum took 1st place and 1st overall; Samantha Keyes took 2nd place and 2nd place overall.
Boys low Intermediate Division ages 8 & up: Gabe Ferrier took 1st place and 1st place overall.
All 26 gymnasts that attended scored high enough in their divisions to get their awards on the podium. Each participant was awarded a trophy and if they placed in the top three they also received overall ribbons.
The staff of CherNastics, the Seymour YMCA and the Ava MOCH Center are very proud of all the gymnasts’ accomplishments.
