Hildred Irene Knight, 84

Hildred Irene (Wallace) Knight, age 84, of Aurora, Mo., was called to her Heavenly home on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, while at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.
Hildred was born on May 31, 1929, in Chandler, Okla., daughter of the late Aude Ola Wallace and Audy Odessa (Hobbs) Wallace.
Hildred was a school teacher as a young adult, teaching in several one room schools in Ozark County, Mo., from 1946 to 1956. After she was married, Hildred and her family moved from Longrun, Mo., to the Eagle Rock and Golden, Mo., area, living there from 1957 until 1977. At this period of her life, she spent most of her time raising her family.
The family then moved to Springfield, Mo., and lived there for over 20 years before moving to Aurora in 2004. Hildred was of the Pentecostal Faith, and had most recently attended the First Assembly of God Church while living in Aurora.
Hildred enjoyed talking on the phone to relatives and friends, keeping up on all the happenings. Many things brought her joy in life, but nothing she enjoyed more than bragging on and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On March 25, 1950, in Mountain. Home, Ark., Hildred married Moses Edward Knight. To this union one son was born. Moses and Hildred were blessed with over 50 years together before his passing on Dec. 16, 2001. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Wallace in 1950 and Donald Wallace in 2001.
Those left to cherish Hildred are her son, Max Knight, and wife Janie, of Purdy, Mo.; two grandchildren, Jackson Knight, and wife Holly, of Monett, and Eva Lamp, and husband Nathan, of Verona; and four great-granddaughters, Ruby and Leah Knight and Laney and Lauren Lamp. She is also survived by one niece, Shelly Wallace, of Midway, Ark.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Knight will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, Mo., south of Ava. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
