Icy Roads Cause Wrecks In Douglas County Friday

The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated two separate wrecks in Douglas County last Friday that were attributed to icy roads.

The most serious crash occurred at 12:15 p.m., three miles west of Goodhope on Route T.

Troop G reported that John R. Kaiser, 51, of Ava, was traveling west on Route T when he lost control of his 2004 Dodge Neon. The car ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

Kaiser sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital, Springfield, by Cox Ambulance-Ava.

The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department and Goodhope Fire Department.

Earlier the same day John W. Cable, 39, of Ava, suffered minor injuries when the car he was driving ran off Route K, six miles northwest of Ava and overturned in a creek.

Responding units reported that the roads were extremely slick when that crash occurred at 10:05 a.m.

The Highway Patrol reported that Cable was northbound on Route K in a 2004 Chrysler. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The Troop G report indicated the driver would seek medical attention on his own.

The Douglas CountySheriff’s Department also assisted at that crash, along with Ava Rural Fire Department.
