Floyd Currier, 83

Floyd Weyman Currier, 83 years, passed to heaven on Dec. 4, 2013 at his home.
Floyd was born Aug. 26, 1930 in Douglas County, Mo., to Oscar and Edna Dona (Turner) Currier.
Floyd was a life long resident of Douglas County and Ava community. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for 31 years with Martin-Marietta Co. out of Buffalo, Iowa. He had also worked for Douglas County Road Dept. for nine years.
On May 13, 1960 Floyd and Esther Davey were united in marriage in Iowa City, Iowa.
Floyd was a Christian and had attended the Sweden and Girdner churches.
Floyd enjoyed hunting and fishing. He delighted in the opportunity he got to hunt elk in Idaho. He also loved working on the farm and continued to always stay active.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Esther in 2005 and a son, Floyd Lee.
Floyd is survived by eight children, Todd Currier and Shila, Ava, Mo., Roger Currier and Arvena Means, both of Davenport, Iowa, Evelyn Spicer, Jefferson City Mo., Brian Currier, state of New York, Jane Stahler, state of California, Pamela Mills and Mark Johnson, both of Bettendorf, Iowa; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Howard Currier and Florence, Bettendorf, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Floyd were Saturday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Sweden Cemetery. Visitation was  Saturday from 1 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Marvin Loftin. Memorials may be made to Sweden Cemetery.
