Plans Are Coming Together For Next Year’s Summer Festival

Another planning meeting was held last Monday night for the Ava Summer Festival to be held May 22-24, 2014. The plan is to make this an annual event to be held on the fourth weekend in May every year.
Spearheaded by the Ava Area Chamber of Commerce, the festival committee involves a lot of folks with various interests. Preliminary plans are to utilize the upper and lower city park areas, the Ava square, and perhaps school property and the showgrounds of the Missouri Fox Trotters north of town.
Live music, homemade crafts, games and contests, perhaps a car show and/or old engine show, a parade and much more are in the discussion stages at this time.
The festival committee hopes to pull in involvement from churches, civic and service organizations, school clubs and others to make this an annual event for community.
If you have questions or comments, contact the Ava Area Chamber of Commerce at 683-4594.
The next meeting of the committee will be Thursday, Jan. 2, at 5:30 p.m., at the MOCH Wellness Center.
