On a very chilly Sunday morning, Pastor Oren asked us all how we react to the goodness of Jesus Christ in our lives. Do we take it for granted, say it’s no big deal, and forget about it once we leave the church building? Or do you acknowledge Him, give Him thanks from your heart and give the Glory to God in everything? Our faith should always compel us to do that and give thanks to God for the ultimate sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ.
Sunday night the Community Thanksgiving service was held at First Southern Baptist Church. The Ministerial Alliance of churches met together, praised together, sang songs together and worshiped our Lord God as one body of Christ. We are a very blessed community here where we know our Christian brothers and sisters share the love of each other, their community and the Lord.
All Wednesday night services are dismissed for the Thanksgiving holiday preparations. Next Sunday we will have a special Missionary guest at our worship service. Our missions are very important and we love to hear about the work they do. Next Sunday night our choir will have an extended practice for our Christmas special, so evening services will be dismissed.
Another exciting event is the Women’s One Event held at our church and hosted by Ava Full Gospel Church on December 7th at 7 p.m. Join us for the special service.
On December 8th we will hold our holiday dinner at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the youth ministry building. That is always a great fellowship and food, so join in.
Please remember the prayer concerns for this week. This time of year can be tough for some families so please remember to pray for them. We praise God that J.D. Ross is getting better, slowly but surely. Also keep Arthur Stamper in your prayer as he is still in the hospital. Also pray for Pete Robertson, Bud Clinkingbeard and those who are recovering from surgery or illness. For those in the nursing home, this time can be lonesome so if you want to be a part of the nursing home ministry, on Dec. 1 we will be at the nursing home at 2 p.m. for that service.
I am told that we have a website for the church again, so check it out at www.avageneral.com. You can check out events, our services, sign up for text alerts and follow us on Twitter too!
From everyone here at Ava General Baptist Church, we want to wish everyone a blessed Thanksgiving. I hope the love of God and of family give glory to God for all that He is and does for all of us. Stay faithful to Him by living His word and leading others to Jesus. Be thankful that we have the freedom and privilege to worship an awesome God. See you Sunday. God bless you.
