Skyline R-II Board Meets Oct. 17

The Skyline R-II Board met in regular session on Thursday Oct. 17, with all seven members present.  The consent agenda items consisting of board minutes, bills and financial statement were presented and approved.
In old business:  The board discussed where the district stands currently on the bus repairs – one needing a new wiring harness and the other needing a transmission.
In new business:   Matthew James, auditor, reviewed the 2012-2013 audit with the board.  The revenues and expenditures were in line with the last couple of years and holding steady.  There were no major findings in the audit.  The board amended the 2013-2014 budget to include the Missouri Foundation Health Grant and the Missouri Highlands Grant revenue and expenses.
Two policies and regulations were presented for amendments: Reporting Student Abuse to align with the “Amy Hestir” law and Family Medical Leave updates required by federal law, particularly with respect to Armed Forces’ members and veterans.
In the Superintendent’s Report:  Enrollment for September was 84 students in K-8th grade with 12 preschool students.  Skyline received a grant from Wal-Mart in the amount of $1,000.  This money will be spent on the Positive Behavior Support program, attendance awards, and on MAP testing awards.  The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21,  at 7 p.m.
