Ava Runners Improve Their Times at Springfield Catholic Cross Country Meet

The Ava Bears cross country team traveled to Springfield, Tuesday, Oct. 8, for the Irish Invitational hosted by Springfield Catholic High School.
A total of 207 runners competed in the boys’ varsity race.  Caleb Stillings ran a 17:17 and improved his time by 1 minute, 11 seconds  from last year’s time. Caleb finished in 11th place overall in the boys’ varsity race.
Senior Jordan Dimirsky placed 39th out of the 207 in a time of 18:12 and also improved his time from last year.
Jacob Luebbering placed 86th in a time of 19:10.  Hayden Schuster ran a 20:48, Sage Clunn ran a time of 21:19 and Garrit Swainston got a new personal record by almost a full 3 minutes by running the course in 22:10.
Brett Mitchell ran a new PR in a time of 23:17, an improvement by 35 seconds.  And Jonah Brown also got a new PR by 2 minutes, 37 seconds, finishing in 24:12
In the girls’ race, Bailey Ray improved her career PR again, improving in each of the last four consecutive races, with a time of  24:03.  Kayla Cooper finished in 24:04.  Megan Cooper ran a time of 25:29.  JimiLynn Raybould ran the course in 26:26.  And Madison Schuster got another PR, her second straight, finishing in 27:57.
In the junior high races, Aubrey Schuster finished 40th out of 205 runners with a time of 13:25 in the 1.8  mile course.  And Bailey Ray also placed very high, coming in 68th out of 205 with a time of 13:57.
Braden Swofford raced the 1.8 mile course also, and ran a 12:54 to place 88th out of 207. Jacob Key ran the course in 13:03 and placed 116th out of 207.  Gavin Goss ran in a time of 14:50. This was the longest distance to date that the junior high runners had competed in.
The Ava Bears’ next meet is at Mountain Grove today (Thursday, Oct. 17).
