The Lord made a gorgeous day Sunday for us to join together in fellowship. Bro. Oren read scriptures from Joshua 2:1-7 for his Bible message today. Joshua faithfully followed directions from God and by God’s grace Joshua lead the people of Israel to victory over their enemies. People’s faith and obedience were wearing thin by this time but there were still a few who listened to God and were faithful to His will. Joshua showed his faith by obeying God and sent two spies into the city of Jericho. There were others in the city of Jericho who wanted to kill those men, but they couldn’t find them. The faithful servant who hid these men was a sinner named Rahab. She risked her own life for these men because it was the right thing to do. God protected her and her house.
We had some wonderful Sunday school lessons too. A lot of the classes do different studies but there is something for everyone and every age. It’s not just for kids anymore. You can meet new friends, but best of all, you learn from God’s Word and grow in Christian faith. We need Him every day and you can take that Sunday school class with you all week. When Satan gets in your face, remember your fellowship in Sunday school and the lesson you studied and you’ll find a way to push Satan away.
There was fellowship after the evening services Sunday night. Baptist do know how to fellowship (which means we like to eat!). Next Sunday night we’ll have the Conquerors Quartet at the 6 p.m. evening service for some Gospel singing. It should be great music and worship. And yes, I know Halloween and Thanksgiving are not here yet but, we will be starting choir practice for the Christmas celebration. Please think about this and if you want to be a part of this very special ministry and service to God, we want you in the choir. Come sing for Jesus! Pray about it.
Bro. Oren reminded us that others on our prayer list and those he mentioned Sunday morning are relying on us to follow through and pray for them. So many are home bound now, not only in the nursing home, but in their own homes. Pray for God’s touch of peace and healing. We want to remember the McSwain family this week. Also pray for Hal Adams, Velma Smith and J.D. Ross. God listens to the faithful and our prayers are needed. I know when someone’s prayed for me or my family, we can feel it and you know God has listened and touched you in a way no one else can.
Please visit us on Sunday morning at either 8:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. Also, look Ava General Baptist Church on facebook and friend us. You’ll get the entire scoop on what’s happening in our church and when it’s happening! Be faithful in your walk with the Lord this week. It’s hard, I know. Don’t go along with things and with others if you know it’s not what God would want us to do. Stand strong and Jesus will reward us with His love and grace. See you all on Sunday. God Bless.
