Vietnam Veterans Need to Enroll In V.A. Health Care

Ava VFW Post 5993 and Douglas County American Legion Post 112 shared information this week they say every Vietnam veteran should be aware of.

According to the memo, every Vietnam veteran needs to be enrolled in V.A. Health Care. The Affordable Health Care Act kicks in on Jan. 1, 2014 and V.A. Health Care is acceptable as current insurance for the Affordable Care Act, the bulletin says.

All Vietnam veterans with Vietnam Service Medal (VSM) or/ and Vietnam Campaign Ribbon/Medal (VCM) on their DD-214 will now qualify for health care as Cat. 6 with or without Means Testing (report of income and/or net worth) and regardless of disability rating.

According to the document, veterans may enroll at any V.A. facility. For more information contact a local service officer with the VFW or American Legion.
