Project Life Guard and Battle of The Belt Entire Month of October

The Ava High School FCCLA club is sponsoring Project Lifeguard at AHS for one full month to encourage students to Arrive Alive – Buckle Up.
The students are looking for community organizations to help with the event. Volunteers are needed each afternoon when students are dismissed to pass out treats or materials to students who are buckled up.
Start date will be Oct. 1 and will go through Oct. 31. This month-long event will be held in the student parking lot next to the Performing Arts Center.
Battle of the Belt is a safety belt competition between Missouri high schools to encourage the use of safety belts among students. The Missouri teen safety belt usage rate for 2012 was only 66 percent.  Battle of the Belt contest is sponsored by MoDOT
Students also pledged, on Sept. 19, to never text and drive, and viewed videos from the “It Can Wait” website sponsored by AT&T. Students learned the important message that texting can wait.
If you or your organization can help, please contact the high school, LeeAnn Tomlinson, FCCLA Advisor, 683-5747 ext. 357. The students appreciate your help with this important project.
