Gerald Haynes, 81

Gerald  Haynes, 81 years, passed away on Sept. 16, 2013 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo., from a long illness.
Gerald was born June 13, 1932 in Douglas County, Mo., to Roscoe and Lois Wilma (Swearengin) Haynes.
Gerald was a resident of the Ava community for many years.
He was a retired self-employed mechanic in the Kansas City area. He later returned to his hometown in Ava to dairy farm.
In October of 1952 Gerald and Marjorie Ann Pueppke were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark., and to this union two children were born.
He was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War.
He was a Christian.  Gerald at one time was a member of the Horseless Carriage Club. Gerald enjoyed helping others work on their cars.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Boyd Edward; and one brother, Clyde Haynes.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Marjorie Haynes, Ava, Mo.; one daughter, Jennifer Haynes, Lenexa, Kan.; three grandchildren, Nathan Haynes, Spring Palcher and Jerald Kohrs; three great-grandchildren, Kennedy Palcher, Sam and Hank Wilson; eight siblings, Charles Haynes, Jackie Haynes, Janette George, Larry Haynes, Wanita Croines, Becky Plunket, Caroline Hendricks and Ronnie Haynes; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Gerald will be Friday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m.             in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Ellison Cemetery west of Ava with full military honors by Douglas County American Legion Post #112. Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Ellison Cemetery.
